Visiting National Parks and Places

Many of our trips have involved visiting iconic national landmarks in the United States. We usually have one “must include” landmark on our annual trip. Most people just lump them all into one category and call them “National Parks”, but they are really much more than just parks. There are so many different parks, monuments, forests, sea shores, lake shores, nature preserves, refuges, battlefields and lands that we will just call them “National Places”.

We have visited many parks and plan to share the good, the bad and the ugly. Oh yes, there is ugly! Have you ever been to the Everglades National Park in the middle of summer? Make sure to bring some mosquito spray, as there are so many of them just waiting to take a bite out of you. Then add some extreme humidity and it makes for a very uncomfortable experience.

I find it amazing how different they all are and they give a glimpse of nature, history and experiences. They are all over the country so you do not have to travel far from where you live.
